For the first time in our history, Kapor Capital brought together over 75 founders and CEOs in May for a one-day networking summit to learn, build, and inspire a more inclusive world.
The Kapor Capital Founders Summit included company pitches, inspiring panels, enriching fireside chats, and educational breakout sessions, but the real magic happened in the wings.
Kapor Capital invests exclusively in companies working to close gaps of access, opportunity, and outcomes for low-income communities of color. Our founders are driven by the passion to make real impacts in their communities and in the world. Bringing them all under one roof to share their stories and their strategies proved to make for a powerful day.
“It was an amazing, inspirational, and educational day! It was one of the best summits I’ve been to. I enjoyed meeting new people, learning new things, and feeling like I belong in this.” — Ilit Raz, Founder & CEO, Joonko
Founders heard from industry experts on how to procure impact-focused follow-on investment, manage high growth, scale to IPO, create inclusive and innovative cultures, use social media to grow, assemble a top-shelf C-suite, and more — all with an emphasis on actionable tools and practical takeaways to implement in their own companies.
“It was nice to see such a wide variety of people and companies at different stages in a safe environment for people to talk about the hard stuff. I have been to a few founders events and the ones where everyone is “crushing it” makes you feel even more alone and intimidated to ask for help. We were talking about how to solve the hard stuff and to hear others are experiencing it too is so healthy to solving the problems.” — Sasha Orloff, Co-founder & Board Member, LendUp
Since 2011, Kapor Capital has been changing the way tech companies get funded, investing in founders with transformative ideas and companies created by diverse teams. Kapor Capital founding partners, Mitch Kapor and Freada Kapor Klein, applauded founders for the use of their companies to solve real-world problems, highlighted throughout the Kapor Capital Impact Report.
“What a great feeling it was to be in the company of my fellow founders in the Bay Area. It was great to see so many talented Black and Brown folks in one room.” — Eric Whitaker, Zing Health
It was truly inspiring to be in a room filled with mission-aligned founders and CEOs all working to increase access and opportunity through revolutionary ideas and innovative business practices.
