Stepping Back for a Launch Forward: New Kapor Capital Leadership

We launched Kapor Capital over a decade ago to invest in tech startups that narrow gaps of access, opportunity, and outcomes. Fast forward to 2022, and we’re proud to have remained steadfastly committed to our mission to build a more equitable tech sector, economy, and society.

Today, we are at an inflection point. As we’ve grown in size and impact, we also recognize the importance of evolving our leadership team. We are excited to announce the appointment of two longtime, integral members of our team as the new Managing Partners of Kapor Capital: Uriridiakoghene “Ulili” Onovakpuri and Brian Dixon.

With a wealth of venture capital experience and her work supporting our portfolio companies in the digital health and medical technology industries, Ulili aims to help families and individuals avoid healthcare disparities and financial burdens due to healthcare treatment. She leads investments in health tech and people operations tech companies and founded one of the longest-running venture capital internship programs for underrepresented individuals, the Kapor Capital Fellows program.

In 2011 with the launch of the program, Brian was the first participant. He is passionate about making venture capital and tech more inclusive. In 2015 Brian became one of the first and youngest African-American partners at Kapor Capital or any other Silicon Valley venture capital firm. For his 11 years at Kapor Capital, Brian has dedicated his career to ensuring entrepreneurs of all backgrounds have access to advice and capital in order to make their business succeed. Brian leads investments in fintech and edtech.

As a social impact investing firm with very specific criteria, Kapor Capital is excited to foster the next generation of our leadership. We’ve realized tremendous value from having varied perspectives, lived experiences, and distance traveled in our partnership. That tradition will persist with Brian and Ulili. They will continue the work to strengthen underserved and underrepresented communities and are well-positioned to lead us into the next phase of Kapor Capital.

We will continue to support the family of over 170 companies in the Kapor Capital portfolio and continue to put our capital to work behind the Kapor Capital mission under Ulili and Brian’s leadership. We’re not retiring but are stepping back with full confidence in both Brian and Ulili and look forward to how they will continue to positively impact the venture capital ecosystem, finding the genius in those who are often overlooked.
