Decision to Overturn Roe V. Wade Statement

Today’s Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade is a direct assault on racial and gender equity. By removing women’s rights to control their health, their individual choices, and their bodies, we are moving backwards in ensuring basic civil rights for all Americans.

As we fight for racial justice, we are keenly aware that limiting access to abortion will place an outsized burden on Black, Latinx, and Native women, and will have catastrophic consequences for communities of color who already face significant economic and health disparities.

This decision also serves as a warning: a highly-politicized Supreme Court can further erode basic civil rights and protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities of color. Let’s continue to advocate for reproductive freedom through voting, donating, writing your legislators, community organizing and more. We cannot allow our disappointment to settle into inaction.

Donate – Many community-based organizations are already working in regions where safe abortions will no longer be accessible including Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project, SisterSong, National Network of Abortion Funds and others on-the-ground are accepting donations to support their efforts.

Data Privacy – In states where abortion will be banned data security for vulnerable communities is critical. Big Tech should commit to securing data & reject requests for cooperation by those looking to track menstruation, pregnancy test purchases & sensitive data.
