Nicole Manzana (She/Her)

People Operations Consultant

Nicole Manzana is the People Operations Consultant, focusing on onboarding, payroll, benefits and HR compliance. She is a proud daughter of immigrants and grew up in the Bay Area in Union City, CA. As a teenager, she immersed herself in community organizing within the Filipino community throughout the East Bay. Her local high school was also privileged to have an Ethnic Studies department, which was pivotal in learning more about her revolutionary history, as well as other BIPOC narratives. This inspiration led her to transfer from Chabot College and graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.

After graduation, she dedicated her time to learning about the disability rights movement and worked at a local non-profit supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live independently. During her time there, she developed as an administrative professional and became certified as a Professional in Human Resources. Prior to the Kapor Center, she served as the Operations Manager at the Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN) working behind the scenes in supporting powerful asian immigrant and refugee leaders in their right to a clean and healthy environment in Oakland and Richmond. Outside of work, her source of joy can be found from eating, fitness, learning, being by the ocean, traveling and spending time with family and close friends.
