Patrick Armstrong (He/Him)

Vice President of Technology Policy and Government Affairs

Patrick Armstrong is the Vice President of Technology Policy and Government Affairs. He is the head of our policy-related efforts and collaborates with the team to develop and execute strategies that aim to create a more equitable tech sector and society. 

Patrick leads Kapor Center Advocacy, setting the strategic direction, building internal infrastructure, ensuring alignment across organizations, and supporting his team and colleagues as they work collectively to drive positive change. In this role, he partners with government officials, advocacy organizations, and community members to advance policies aligned with Kapor Center values. He has led partnerships with officials from all branches of government, including initiatives with the White House, members of Congress, governors, and other state leaders.

Prior to joining Kapor Center Advocacy, Patrick worked at the Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center. Patrick led policy teams in several states that passed criminal justice-related laws and policies to improve public safety and support people who end up in the system. He also helped launch and lead organization-wide internal equity and inclusion efforts.

Patrick has also worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and at the Brennan Center for Justice. As a student-athlete on the basketball team at the University of California, Berkeley, Patrick double majored in political science and African American studies. He earned his JD from the New York University School of Law. Away from the office, he enjoys spending quality time with friends, enjoying live jazz, or playing basketball with family.
