Mikaa Veal

Mikaa Veal is the National Curriculum + Training Manager. Prior to joining SMASH full time she was the Lead Instructor at SMASH Illinois during its inaugural year and she was a facilitator of the STEM Workshop during the Academic Year Program. Outside of SMASH, Mikaa has had an impactful career in education where she has been a strong advocate for underrepresented students in STEM. In addition to teaching the youth rigorous science courses, she also has a strong foundation in training adult learners. Mikaa has trained adult learners in the Georgia Teacher Fellows program and she trained her previous school on transitioning from in-person to virtual learning during the pandemic.
Mikaa is from Dayton, Ohio and she attended Bowling Green State University where she received Bachelors of Science in Comprehensive Science Education (Biology/Chemistry). Mikaa also holds a Masters of Education in Leadership from Columbus State University in Columbus GA. In her free time she enjoys hiking and traveling with her family.
