Michael Levine

Michael Levine is the Senior Adviser of Impact and Partnerships for Kapor Center.  He previously served as SVP at Paramount, where he led learning and social impact for Noggin, the interactive early learning platform. Michael spearheaded the company’s learning design research, partnerships, and DEIB work and won an EMMY Award for the series Well Versed on Civic Learning. He was Chief Knowledge Officer and the Founder of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, an innovation and field-building organization, at Sesame Workshop, home of the Muppets!

Levine has led national and global initiatives on early learning, new school development, educational media, and communications that catalyzed key program and policy reforms. Prior to his recent work as a media executive, Levine was Vice President for Asia Society, managing the global nonprofit’s policy, language, and educational initiatives to promote knowledge and understanding of world regions and cultures.  Levine oversaw Carnegie Corporation of New York’s groundbreaking work in early childhood and brain development, and was a senior advisor to the New York City Schools Chancellor, where he directed dropout prevention, afterschool, and early childhood initiatives.

Levine is an advisor to numerous impact investors and is often consulted by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education. He is the author of over forty articles and commentaries published in academic and popular media outlets and often keynotes conferences on child development, learning, and digital media. He was named by Working Mother magazine as one of America’s most influential leaders in family and children’s policy. He serves on several non-profit organization boards, and mentors several social impact founders. He received his Ph.D. in Social Policy from The Florence Heller School at Brandeis and his B.S. from Cornell. In his spare time, Michael is an avid reader, hiker, and sports coach.
