Alex Chen (He/Him)
PrincipalAlex is a venture investor passionate about supporting entrepreneurs who are leveraging innovation to drive scalable social, economic, and environmental impact.
Alex began his career as an impact investor focused on community development projects in low- to moderate-income communities around the United States. He then moved to MUFG Bank, managing the bank’s Public Finance credit portfolio before heading to business school. While in grad school Alex focused on early-stage ventures, investing in pre-seed and seed startups as an investor at Dorm Room Fund.
Most recently, Alex has been investing in startups at Citi Ventures and the Citi Impact Fund, the corporate venture fund of Citigroup. There, Alex focused on investments in the areas of Financial Technology, Workforce Development, Sustainability, and Infrastructure at stages ranging from Seed through Series D.
Alex has an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BA from UCLA. In his spare time, he can be found attending live music events, backpacking mountain trails, playing basketball, or aggressively managing his fantasy football team. He also enjoys cooking and learning new recipes, as well as discovering new restaurants (which saves him a little time and effort).
