The Kapor Center is proud to partner with CodeNow, a nonprofit that provides free, extracurricular training in computer programming and an opportunity to earn a free laptop to underserved high school students. Last Thursday, September 5, Kapor Center staff had the privilege of attending CodeNow’s Bay Area Launch event at HP offices in Palo Alto, CA, along with other partners and supporters. Our very own Cedric Brown participated on a panel at the event to discuss diversifying the tech workforce.
We are excited that more work is being done in the Bay Area to ensure that underrepresented youth of color have access to coding fundamentals. We believe that programs like CodeNow and our other coding program partners, Black Girls Code and Hidden Genius Project, help show youth of color they have what it takes to enter into technology careers and can do some pretty amazing things with the right tools, training, and inspiration.
CodeNow is currently accepting applications for its Bay Area program. The deadline to apply is Friday, September, 20. Please let your networks know about this great, free opportunity for youth to get exposure to the world of coding!
